Privacy Policy

You can read this site without giving us anything. If you email us or fill out a form, we receive what you send: your name, email address, phone number if you provide it, and the content of your message.

Like most websites, our hosting provider records basic technical information such as IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. We use that to keep the site running and to spot abuse or spam.

If you apply to write for us, we collect the information in the application form, including your name, email, phone number, writing background, availability, and your written answers. We use it only to evaluate your application and to contact you about it.

If we bring you on, you get a login to our internal editorial area. In that system we hold work related records: your account email, the position you hold, pitches and drafts you submit, edits and comments, assignment and deadline history, signed agreements and other onboarding documents, and payment records such as rates, invoices and tax information you provide for payment purposes. Tax forms and signature records are treated as confidential and are visible only to the people who need them to run payroll and contracts.

Applications we do not move forward may be kept for a reasonable period in case a suitable assignment opens up. Contributor and payment records are kept as long as required for tax, accounting and legal reasons.

Your work may be credited in print under your name or byline. If you prefer a different credit, tell your editor before publication.

When you reach out about advertising, we collect business contact details, the details of what you want to run, and any artwork or assets you send us. We store these in our internal ad records so the team can plan the issue, place your ad, and handle invoicing.

We do not sell or rent advertiser contact information. Ad materials are shared only with the people and vendors who need them, such as our editorial team, designers and printer. Business records tied to a booking are retained for accounting and legal purposes.

Because our magazine is print only, we do not run behavioral ad tracking on readers for advertisers, and we do not hand over reader data as part of any ad deal.

We use the cookies and local storage needed to run the site, including keeping contributors signed in to the editorial area. Those are required for the site to work.

We may add a privacy focused website analytics tool, such as Google Analytics, to see general traffic patterns like page views and referrers. If and when we turn analytics on, it will be limited to aggregate reporting about site usage, not building profiles of individuals, and this page will be updated to say so. We do not currently run advertising or retargeting pixels.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking them may sign you out of the editorial area.

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate, such as our website host, database and authentication provider, email delivery service, payment and accounting providers, and our printer. They may use it only to provide those services to us.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or the integrity of our systems.

Access to our editorial system requires an invitation and a login, and permissions are limited by role so people see only what their job requires. No system is perfect, so please do not send us sensitive information you would not want stored electronically, outside of the forms built for it.

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also ask us to stop emailing you. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

If you live in California, the CCPA and CPRA give you the right to know what personal information we collect and why, the right to request deletion or correction, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by California law.

To make a request, email us and put "Privacy Request" in the subject line. We may need to confirm your identity before we act, and we aim to respond within 45 days.

This site is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
